Client Tackles Technology
10 March 2011
We have a number of clients who are interested in working on their IT skills. One of our clients has often sourced information from the internet with the help and support of his family and Bridge Support Worker, however, they have been working towards learning how to use a p.c. and sourcing information for themselves.
One of our Support Workers found free I.T. classes in a local church and our client was keen to get involved, so went along for their first lesson.....and enjoyed every minute! In the hope that it would encourage others to take the plunge and attend the course and learn some I.T. skills and also meet new people, our client kindly wrote the following piece for our website:
"I went to the local church with my Support Worker to have more knowledge of computers. It was my first time on a computer. In the beginning I couldn't hear properly, but I had support from the tutor and my Support Worker. When I did not understand what to do and my Support Worker helped me.
I am finding it difficult to use the mouse but my Support Worker said it will get easier with practice. I am enjoying it and I will be going every Friday with my Support Worker from Bridge. Thank you Angela for looking after me"
We are really pleased to report that this client continues to attend the course and is making great progress.
If you are able to offer free training on basic IT skills to our clients, please get in touch via our contact page. Thank You
Some clients have already started fitness courses & groups. We have clients regularly attending the local gym, yoga classes and line dancing!
Regular football training is about to commence in the lead up to another Bridge event in the early summer………so any footie fans out there…please revisit the website in a few weeks for updates & information.
